Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory focuses on children’s proactive participation in their environment, where cognitive development is the result of a collaborative process. Lev Vygotsky (Russia, 1896–1934) argued that children develop their learning through social interaction: they acquire new and improved cognitive skills as a logical process of their immersion in a lifestyle.
