You can’t get rid of wanting

Have you often heard advice like “free yourself from expectations, and life will become more beautiful” or “want less from people, and everything will work out”? How feasible is this? Let’s figure it out.

It’s worth starting with the fact that you can’t just get rid of expectations and wants. It just so happens that “wants” and “expectations” are hardwired into our brain, and this is one of the main functions of our psyche. Based on what is happening around us, we imagine possible events and the results of certain actions. It’s impossible to cut it out no matter how hard you want. But if this is still possible, then you can congratulate the person on the fact that he has a pathology, and you can forget about a happy life and enlightenment.

If you think like this, then “stop expecting” and “stop wanting” tells us one thing — we should not want. In general and completely. That is, to live without needs. Is it possible? I haven’t seen such people. And Buddhists or some adherents of Castaneda come closest to these things, but their lifestyles and thoughts do not suit everyone.
